양평군새마을회 600여 명의 봉사자가 버무린 김장김치, 관내 소외계층 1004 가구로

양평군새마을회(지회장 김성은)가 지난 12일부터 14일까지 청운면다목적복지회관 일원에서 ‘제35회 사랑의 김장나누기’ 행사를 진행했다.
'함께 새마을, 미래로·세계로'를 슬로건으로 진행된 이번 김장 행사에는 양평군 12개 읍면 새마을지도자와 회원, 가족 등 600여 명이 참여해 이웃과 함께 살아가는 따뜻한 공동체 만들기를 몸소 실천했다.
이번 김장 나누기 행사는 지난 12일 배추와 무 수확에 이어 13일 배추 절임과 재료 손질 및 김장 소 만들기, 14일 김장 속 넣기 순으로 진행됐다.
전진선 군수는 "올여름 비가 많이 내리고 무름병까지 겹쳐 농사에 어려움이 많았지만 새마을회의 땀과 정성이 더해져 속이 꽉 찬 배추를 수확하게 됐다"며 "새마을회가 나누는 김장 김치가 어려운 이웃들에게 희망과 용기가 되어 주길 바란다"고 말했다.
김장 속 넣기에 함께한 김선교 국회의원은 "희생과 봉사의 정신으로 '함께 살아가는 따뜻한 공동체 만들기'에 앞장서는 새마을회 가족들에게 감사드린다"며 "새마을회 회원들의 헌신으로 대한민국이 발전헤 왔듯 앞으로도 미래를 견인해 달라"고 말했다.
김성은 지회장은 "대내외 환경은 어렵지만 나 보다 남을 먼저 생각하는 새마을회 회원들의 정성으로 올해도 1004 가구에 김장김치를 전달 할 수 있게 됐다"며 "이웃을 사랑하는 마음이 듬뿍 담긴 김장 김치가 이번 겨울의 냉기는 막아주고 따뜻한 온기로 채워지길 바란다"고 말했다.
한편 올해로 35회째를 맞이한 ‘사랑의 김장나누기 행사’는 직접 재배한 배추 4,500여 포기와 국내선으로 엄선 된 재료가 사용됐으며, 완성된 김장김치는 관내 거주하는 독거 어르신, 소년·소녀 가정, 차상위 계층 등 1,004가구에게 전달될 예정이다.
